How to Get Free or Discounted Wifi For Students of Rochester

Providing students with laptops can address the technology barrier in schools. In the United States, half of the teachers provide a device to each student. However, 17% of students report having difficulty completing assignments due to a lack of reliable internet access, regardless of whether they have a computer. Below are a few ways you can access free Wi-Fi and find lower-price plans for low-income families and students.

Mobile hotspots

Wi-Fi from your phone allows you to share data or most Cell Phone plans have free hotspot locations all over to connect to publicly for free. Contact your provider for more details.

Human I-T

Human I-T has partnered with Frontier Communications and its Affordable Broadband program. To close the digital divide, Human I-T uses donated technology instead of recycling electronics. Plans start at $14.99 again you must have a low income, and be on Medicaid, Medicare, Food Stamps, TA, Social Security, or any other government funding.

School Programs

Rochester Schools Are Providing Free AT&T hotspots with 50 gigs of data and new chrome books. Sign up Here. Contact School Board Here  for New Programs

Free Phones and Tablets

If you qualify or are already on a government-funded program, you can get a free phone with

EveryoneOn is a nonprofit like Supply My Wifi as they help connect low-income families with affordable internet options and FREE digital skills training

Lifeline 

Lifeline provides a $9.25 a month discount on either your phone or internet costs for families with low income or receive social service benefits such as food stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, etc. You can apply through the National Verifier application system.
